Healthy Breastfeeding Lifestyle For Moms
What about ME? The Mom... So you just gave Birth and now the focus of attention is all on your newborn Baby.
Everybody wants to see and hold Him. But what about ME? The Mom...
"Congratulations on your beautiful baby, Good Job, Take Care of Yourself". And that last part the Take Care of Yourself is very difficult. I always take care of my
baby first, then my husband, then the house and then... What about if I take a shower? OH NO, baby just woke up from his 2 hour nap. Maybe later...
So we all have to watch out for that very typical senario that can happen to all of us. Like our baby, we have the same basic needs to: EAT, DRINK, SLEEP, SHELTER
and TIME FOR OURSELF.
And this is essential for our Physical AND Mental Health. Having A Healthy Breastfeeding Lifestyle helped me stay in a Positive, Happy Mood.
And I think it played a big roll in preventing me from having post-partum depression. All this helped me develop a trusting relationship with my baby making breastfeeding
that much easier.
"Nursing does not diminish the beauty of a woman's breasts;
it enhances their charm by making them look lived in and happy."
Robert A. Heinlein
So I've taken a closer look at what we can do to take care of ourselves and work towards living a healthy breastfeeding lifestyle and here's what I found:
- Nutrition and Diet during Breastfeeding
- Food Allergies and Foods To Avoid while Breastfeeding
- Medication and Drugs while Breastfeeding
- Sleep, Sex, Exercise and Time Off
When it comes to nutrition and health everybody has a very different opinion of what is considered"Healthy". And no one likes to be told what to eat or
what to feed our
baby. It is not my intention to tell you there is only one way to be healthy. However, it seems very important since I am talking about breastfeeding,
which is food, to talk about a breastfeeding mother's health. Especially since we want the best for our children. Everything we ingest and experience, as
during our pregnancy, will go straight to our baby through our milk.
So I've put together for you some general guidelines that make sense to me concerning a Heathly Breastfeeding Lifestyle. My main sources of information
come from several books by Doctor Sears, breastfeeding books and of course my own experience. It is now up to you to decide what works well for you, your baby and
your lifestyle...
