About US

Bonjour,

My name is Sophie. I am a French Mom living in Portland, Oregon with my husband and our two year old son. Since becoming pregnant with my son Leo I have become passionate about educating women on giving birth and breastfeeding. I teach Childbirth Education, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care and Attachment Parenting Classes.

I was trained in Breastfeeding Education through my Childbirth Education Certification at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland. I am also an active member of Nursing Mother's Counsel of Oregon. Ofcourse my best training has come from 2 years of breastfeeding my son. Nothing can replace first hand experience! I have been blessed to have had a great experience nursing from the very beginning. Some might say it was luck but I think it was because I was so well informed!

I went through having sore nipples, breast engorgement, my baby teething, the beginnings of a breast infection, blisters etc... The difference was that I knew how to treat these problems right as the first symptoms arose before they became more than a minor inconvenience. So my breastfeeding experience has been wonderful! I am in the middle of my biggest breastfeeding challenge yet...weaning my son!

My son is 2, has 16 teeth, eats plenty of solid food and still wants to nurse to fall asleep. I keep asking myself what I am doing wrong but I think this is not really a problem at all. It is just my son's personality and maybe I am not quite ready to break this bonding time I've enjoyed so much up to now.

I started Breastfeeding-Moms.com in 2011 to inform and help mothers on their Nursing Journey. It is a slow process since I don't have very much time after taking care of my son, my husband, teaching classes, gardening, cooking, reading, sewing, walking in Forest Park... But I am making progress and I hope that each new page helps Moms. I have hundreds of pages of tips, tricks and stories to share with you so keep on coming back as my site grows.

Bonne Journee!
Sophie
